Q: Where do I register for Stoa?

Q: What does “Stoa” mean?

“Stoa” is not an acronym, as so many people assume. It is a Greek term for a place of gathering that was popular in ancient Classical times. More information on the background of the word, “Stoa,” and how it relates to the goals of the organization can be found here.

Q: What are the eligibility requirements?

Q: Do I have to pay for registration by computer, or may I send a check?

Registration is paid exclusively by credit card through the Stoa website.

Q: I participate in other speech and debate leagues. May I register for Stoa, too?

Yes. Orators and debaters from other organizations/leagues are welcome to also register with Stoa.

Q: What is NITOC?

The National Invitational Tournament of Champions (NITOC) is a true National Speech and Debate Championship for students registered with Stoa. Click here to read more.

Q: How do I obtain an invitation to NITOC?

Invitations are extended to students whose verified tournament results are posted on the National Christian Homeschool Speech and Debate Rankings (Speechranks) website.

Q: What are the debate resolutions for Stoa?

The Lincoln Douglas Value Debate and Team Policy Debate resolutions can be found here.

Q: How does Stoa determine their debate resolutions?

Stoa uses a proposal process and voting procedures to select resolutions before the end of the debate year. Voting for the next year’s resolutions will take place in May, and the winning resolutions will be announced in May or June.

Q: How do I donate to Stoa?

There are many ways to invest in Stoa! Use your time, talents, resources, and prayers to grow and improve our community.

Time and talents: Judging at a tournament, supporting your club leader, serving at a tournament, and joining a Stoa committee.
Resources: Giving once or monthly as a Stoa Faithful Friend and participating in the Kroger Community Rewards programs.
Prayer: Meeting with a Stoa prayer group.
